NCR Printing FAQ:

What is NCR Printing?

NCR stands for "No Carbon Required." NCR printing produces multi-part forms - such as invoices, receipts, job sheets, and delivery notes etc - on specially coated carbonless paper that automatically transfers your writing to the sheets below when pressure is applied.

This creates instant duplicate, triplicate, or quadruplicate copies without the need for carbon paper, printers, or any equipment on-site.

NCR forms are custom printed with your business logo, contact details, and layout - giving your business professional, branded paperwork every time.

Which option is best for me - NCR Pads, NCR Books or NCR Sets?

NCR Pads are glued together along one edge. Each NCR set is torn off as you use it. There are 50 NCR sets in each glued pad. NCR glued pads are our most popular option - ideal for invoices, job sheets, and receipts used on-site.

NCR Books are perforated, stapled and bound together. They are more durable than NCR pads. There are 50 NCR sets in each book. We perforate all NCR sheets as standard and the sheets will remain in the book unless physically removed. NCR books come with a card front cover as standard.

NCR Sets are individual unbound sets - loose and lightweight. Best suited for businesses that need to file or distribute forms separately without a pad or book format.

Not sure? Most of our customers choose NCR Pads - they're practical, portable, and a cost-effective option for everyday use.

What is Sequential Numbering and Can I Add This to My NCR Forms?

Sequential numbering means each form in your pad, book, or set is printed with a unique, consecutive reference number - for example, Invoice 0001, Invoice 0002, Invoice 0003, and so on. Every copy within that set carries the same number, so your customer copy and your office copy always match.

Why add sequential numbering?

  • Keeps your records organised and easy to search
  • Instantly spot missing or duplicate paperwork
  • Looks more professional to customers
  • Helps with accounting and VAT record keeping
  • Recommended by most accountants for invoice tracking

Yes - sequential numbering can be added to any NCR order. Simply select the numbering option when placing your order. We charge a standard fee of £15.00 per order for this service, regardless of quantity.

What Is the Difference Between Duplicate, Triplicate & Quadruplicate NCR?

The difference is simply how many copies each set produces when you write on the top sheet.

Duplicate (2 Part) - produces 2 copies. Usually a top White NCR sheet and a Yellow bottom NCR sheet. Give one to the customer, keep one for your records. Perfect for most small businesses and tradespeople.

Triplicate (3 Part) - produces 3 copies. Usually a top White NCR sheet, a Yellow middle NCR sheet and a Pink bottom NCR sheet. Ideal when multiple departments need a copy - for example, one for the customer, one for the office, and one for accounts.

Quadruplicate (4 Part) - produces 4 copies. Usually a top White NCR sheet, a second Blue NCR sheet, a third Yellow NCR sheet and a bottom Pink NCR sheet. Best suited for larger organisations or businesses with complex record-keeping requirements across several departments.

Not sure how many parts you need? Duplicate is the most popular choice for everyday invoicing, receipts, and job sheets.

Will My NCR Forms Be Custom Printed and Personalised to My Needs?

  • Your company logo and branding
  • Business name, address, and contact details

How Many Sheets Are in NCR Pads and NCR Books?

As standard, all our NCR Pads and NCR Books contain 50 sets per pad or book.

The total number of sheets depends on the number of parts:

Duplicate (2 Part) - 50 sets × 2 sheets = 100 sheets per pad/book

Triplicate (3 Part) - 50 sets × 3 sheets = 150 sheets per pad/book

Quadruplicate (4 Part) - 50 sets × 4 sheets = 200 sheets per pad/book

Need more or fewer sets? No problem - we can produce pads and books with a custom number of sets to suit your requirements. Just get in touch and we'll be happy to help.

What Size Paper Should I Choose for My NCR Printing Order?

We offer four standard sizes, with custom sizes and A3 size available on request:

A4 (210 × 297mm) - ideal for detailed forms with lots of information to record, such as invoices, service reports, inspection forms, and complex delivery documentation.

A5 (148 × 210mm) - our most popular size. A great balance between writing space and portability. Perfect for invoices, job sheets, and receipts used on-site.

DL (99 × 210mm) - compact and slim. Popular with restaurants, cafés, and service businesses for order taking and quick receipts.

A6 (105 × 148mm) - the smallest standard size. Best for simple receipts, payment confirmations, and quick notes where minimal information is needed.
